The addition of Artesa opens a new chapter for Jean-Charles Boisset, owner of the Boisset Group, one of California's most renowned winemakers, who shares with the winery a vision based on terroir, heritage, and excellence..
Napa Valley (California), September 23, 2026. Jean-Charles Boisset, owner of Boisset Collection, has formalized the purchase and sale of Artesa Winery, the renowned winery located in the Los Carneros designation of origin, in Napa Valley (California), with Raventós Codorníu.
With this acquisition, Artesa begins a new chapter within one of the world's most prestigious family-owned wine groups, with a presence in some of the most iconic wine regions of France and the United States. The transaction unites the history of Raventós Codorníu, whose origins date back to 1551, with Boisset's strong presence in California and its confidence in the future of Napa Valley.
Founded in 1991 as Codorníu Napa, Artesa was conceived with the ambition of producing great sparkling wines in California. Today, the property spans over 140 hectares (350 acres), incorporating hillside vineyards, a winery designed around gravity-flow winemaking, and iconic architecture that has made it one of Napa Valley's landmark landscapes and wine tourism destinations.
Located in Los Carneros, one of the coolest areas of Napa Valley thanks to the maritime influence of San Pablo Bay, Artesa stands out for its particularly favorable conditions for varieties such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, in addition to its historical link with the production of sparkling wines.
The acquisition of Artesa reflects the affinity between two projects that share a common vision of wine, based on respect for origin, the preservation of winemaking heritage, and the creation of experiences that connect wine, culture, and landscape. This new phase will maintain wine as the central focus of the project, while also strengthening the winery's historical connection to art, architecture, and cultural experiences.
For Raventós Codorníu, the transaction forms part of a strategic portfolio review aimed at focusing investment and resources on the company's priority regions.
Jean-Charles Boisset has highlighted that: “Artesa represents an exceptional union between viticulture, landscape, architecture and wine culture. Our commitment is to preserve its identity, support its team and develop its full potential while maintaining the essence that has made it a benchmark in Napa Valley.”.
For his part, Sergio Fuster, CEO of Raventós Codorníu, stated that: “Artesa has been a very important part of our international history and one of the most successful wineries in our portfolio. We are convinced that Boisset is the best custodian to lead its next stage of development. His deep knowledge of the local market will allow us to further enhance its extraordinary potential and ensure the continuity of its legacy.”.
